Although you may want to gain distance on your golf shots, you do not want to give up accuracy. Driving the ball along way, will do you no good, if you end up hitting out of the trees on every hole. Therefore, most golfers would prefer to hit in the fairway, instead of driving 20 more yards and into a hazard where lots of strokes can be lost.

Lets get started with the first of our golf distance tips. You should try to angle your lead foot toward your target slightly, (left foot for right handed golfers, right foot for left handed golfers) This allows your hips to fully turn, Which is where you get your power. This also, will increase the distance your golf shots will travel.

Proper posture is our next golf distance tip, to get maximum power out of your golf shots, you must flex your knees when you address the ball. You must also be able to shift your weight from your right side to your left side smoothly, as you hit the ball and follow through.

The next tip is that when your hands come through the hitting zone you need to roll your right hand as the club head makes contact with the ball. This skill will take some practice but, when mastered will add yards to your golf shots. This is one of the most effective golf distance tips to improve your game. This tip will work with any of your shots from driver to iron.

Many golfers try to gain more yards by what I call over swinging. They will try to swing as hard as they can, by doing so, they throw their whole swing tempo out of whack. They will more than likely hook or slice the ball because they either opened the club head up or closed the club head at impact. Your goal is to swing hard but, remain in balance. You must let your whole body do the work, not just your arms. The club head must hit the ball square, to hit a straight shot.

There are times when you want to draw the ball. This is a shot most pro golfers have in there arsenal. This is a controlled shot that can get you out of trouble. This shot, when hit properly, will head to the right then drift back left. The draw has a low ball flight and will roll farther than the traditional drive or iron shot. Many golfers prefer this shot because there swing promotes a draw. Rather than fight it, they will use it to there advantage.

These golf distance tips will only prove helpful, if you actually go out and practice. Remember the importance of your hips to your golf swing. This is where your power lies, but, it is just one part of your overall swing. Hitting the driving range is where you can put it all together. Good luck! See you on the course!
