Learn To Hit a Draw

All golfers should learn to hit a draw. If you would like to take the next step to lowering your scores, then learning to hit a draw is essential. The draw shot will take some practice, but it can be mastered by anyone.

The ball flight of the draw will go left to right. This shot looks similar to a hook but not as pronounced. When you hit the draw correctly, the ball will have a lower trajectory and will roll farther when it lands. The better you get at hitting the draw, the more you will see your scores start to come down.

If you want to learn to hit a draw,the first step is to create a strong grip, Turn your hands on the grip, just a little to the right. Make sure you turn your hands only.

You must achieve an inside out swing path, to do this you will need to close your stance slightly, this will allow your body to rotate fully.

Your right hand will need to be in the neutral position at impact. This is why the strong grip is essential. The club head will need to be closed just a little bit to hit a draw.

As with ay golf shot, you must keep your head down until you have completed your swing. If you have set up properly, you should see the ball head right initially, then start heading left once it reaches its peak height. If the ball heads left immediately you have hit a hook. If this happens to you, you need to practice more and pay particular attenton to your position at address.

Another good tip, if you want to learn to hit adraw, is to look at the divot you have left behind after your shot. If you observe your divot heading right, you have not hit the ball properly. Your divots should veer left slightly or be in-line with your target.

It is easier to hit a draw with your mid-irons. Be sure to check and make sure you have the proper grips on your clubs, softer grips tend to make it harder to achieve the proper ball action you desire.

Most golfers will hit a lot of hook shots when first trying to learn to hit a draw shot. This is to be expected, it takes time and practice to perfect the draw. You need to make small adjustments, then hit some balls, make more adjustments, repeat this process until you see the progress you have been looking for, and then practice more. That is the only way to get better.

Once you have perfected the draw with your mid-irons, you can then try and move up to your driver. The driver is probably the hardest club to hit the draw with. if you want to learn to hit a draw, you might as well learn to hit a draw with all your clubs. Just take your time and do not be in a big hurry, the process of hitting a draw can be frustrating at first. Once you get it mastered your game will soar.
